Marilyn Monroe was born in the Los Angeles County Hospital on June 1st, 1926, as Norma Jeane Mortenson. Later she changed her name to Marilyn Monroe.
Her mother Gladys Perle Monroe wasn't a stable woman. When she married Marilyn's father- Martin Edward Mortensen, she was divorced with two children's who lived with their father.
After some times of marriage they too got divorced.

She grew up in Los Angeles, where she lived only with her mother and never met her father. When her mother collapsed, she sent Marilyn for adoption. Albert and Ida became her adoptive parents, who had good intentions but believed in tough educational methods. She kept a relationship with her real mom, but obviously the situation wasn't ideal.

After she turned seven she was transferred to an orphanage, where she never had a steady family or a steady home. She finally married to get away from her adoptive family, who was her mother's friend and her godmother.

While her husband was in the Merchant Marine, Norma Jeane found employment in the Factory. She sprayed airplane parts with fire retardant and inspected parachutes. During this time, Army photographer David Conover snapped a photograph of her for a Yank magazine article. He encouraged her to apply to The Blue Book Modeling Agency. She signed up with the agency and began researching the work of Jean Harlow and Lana Turner. She was told that they were looking for models with lighter hair, so she bleached her brunette hair to a golden blond. Faster than she thought she became one of the most successful models.

She had always dreamed of becoming an actress. Finally the "Fox" agency accepted her to work with them first as a model. Later, as an actress. Her fist role in Holly Wood was "Scada Ho Scada Hi". Than she act in the movies: "Clash by Night", a Barbara "Stanwyck", the comedy "We're Not Married", the drama "Don't Bother to Knock", "Monkey Business", In "O. Henry's Full House" and others movies. She thought it's better for the whole world to know you than never to be known at all.

She had three marriages, first to James Dougherty, then to Joe DiMaggio, and lastly Arthur Miller. She never had children.

Marilyn Monroe was an amazing image that got up to the brightness from nothing. She didn't' have any favoritism, and everything she had been was thanks to herself. She was special she wasn’t a normal person. All who met her said she was special; she was someone who cared for others, and was very modest. She wasn’t separated from her success. She was very ambitious and learned more acting –because she didn’t want to stay "the blond girl". She had a dream and it came true.

Interview

Interview
1. Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Los Angeles; I lived only with my mother and never met my father. When my mother collapsed, she sent me for adoption. Albert and Ida became my adoptive parents, who had good intentions but believed in tough educational methods. I kept a relationship with my real mom, but obviously the situation wasn't ideal.

2. What were your difficulties as a child growing up without a mother?
After I turned seven I was transferred to an orphanage, I never had a steady family or a steady home. So it was very hard, of course.

3. How did you get famous?
While Dougherty was in the Merchant Marines, I found employment in the Factory. I sprayed airplane parts with fire retardant and inspected parachutes. During this time, Army photographer David Conover snapped a photograph of me for a Yank magazine article. He encouraged me to apply to The Blue Book Modeling Agency. I signed with the agency and began researching the work of Jean Harlow and Lana Turner. I was told that they were looking for models with lighter hair, so I bleached my brunette hair to a golden blond.

4. Did you enjoy acting?
Yes very much. Its feel like someone tells and its exciting. It's very interesting for me, to know about other people, and about their life. Every time I act someone, its helps me know more about myself.

5. What was your fist role in Holly Wood?
The Shocking Miss Pilgrim in 1947
6. What jobs did you have?
As I said before, I started as a model at Blue Book agency and became one of the most successful models there. I had always dreamed of becoming an actress. Finally "Fox" agency hired me first as a model. Later, as an actress, I acted in many movies like: "Clash by Night", with Barbara "Stanwyck", the comedy "We're Not Married", the drama "Don't Bother to Knock", "Monkey Business", "O. Henry's Full House" and other movies.

9. Do you have children?
I never had any children.

10. What is your message?
"When you have a good friend that really cares for you and tries to stick in there with you , you treat them like nothing? Learn to be a good friend because one day you're going to look up and say I lost a good friend. Learn how to be respectful to your friends don't just start arguments with them and don't tell them the reason. Always remember your friends will be there quicker than your family. Learn to remember- you have got great friends. Don't forget that and they will always care for you no matter what, always remember to smile and look up at what you've got in life"

Speech:

Dear ladies and gentleman:
We assemble hare today to name the best theatre in New-York which will be called Marilyn Monroe. The theatre won't be a normal theatre; we also want to make lectures and to bring in an artist who has a contract to the shows area. Of course, we will be screening all the best movies, meeting the best leaders, and display quality performances.

We chose the name Marilyn Monroe because she was an amazing image that got to the fame from nothing. It's a thing we educate towards. She hasn't any favoritism, and everything she had been was thanks to herself. She was special; she wasn’t a normal person in our theatre. All who met her say she was special, she was someone who cared for others, and was very modest. She wasn’t overwhelmed from her success. She was very ambitious and learned more acting –because she didn’t want to stay "the blond girl". She grew. In this entire thing we believe. We want people who to come to the theatre will believe it too.

To conclude, I want to share with you something she said and in a personal way which I agree with, in every word, and so does the theatre:
"This life is what you make of it. No matter what, you're going to mess up sometimes, it's a universal truth. But the good part is you get to decide how you're going to mess it up. Girls will be your friends - they'll act like it anyway. But just remember, some come, some go. The ones that stay with you throughout everything - they're your true best friends. Don't let go of them. Also remember, sisters make the best friends in the world. As for lovers, well, they'll come and go too, most of them - actually pretty much all of them are going to break your heart, but you can't give up because if you give up, you'll never find your soul mate. You'll never find that half who makes you whole and that goes for everything. Just because you fail once, doesn't mean you're going to fail at everything. Keep trying, hold on, and always, always, always believe in yourself, because if you don't, then who will,? So keep your head high, keep your chin up, and most importantly, keep smiling, because life's a beautiful thing and there's so much to smile about."

Thank you very much, and I hope you come again to the theatre to enjoy from a special, interesting, deep experience.

rationale

The class chose to write about Women of Valor, and I chose to write about Marilyn Monroe because she was a famous actress and a wonderful woman who came from a poor background and became rich and successful. Though no one knows really how she died but we wanted to know more about her acting as we too, love drama and acting.
